He had loved waking up early. He had enjoyed bring on deck before the dawn, watching the ship spring more fully into life when the night crew melted into the more robust day crew.
He loves this much, much more.
It's a compliment to his utter contentment that he sleeps in past daybreak. It's a compliment to Archie that he lingers in obviously pleased exhaustion even when his husband gets out of bed.
Eventually, he does drag himself back into a state of at least half-dress. There's something wonderfully delicious about being able to wander up to press a kiss against his husband's neck, arms wrapping contentedly around Archie's waist.
