[ Yuri is no good at dates. Firstly because he's young and inexperienced, but secondly because he's not the best at social cues and the like. He's still learning, and tends to be a bit awkward himself when it comes down to it. But he agreed to one nonetheless and so here they were.

He'd selected a nice Russian cafe he knew of that served a wide variety of pastries, desserts, and breads, along with your regular selection of coffee and tea drinks. It was usually not swarming with people, and the atmosphere was comfortable, so it seemed like the perfect idea.

He sits across from Marshmallow, looking over at him for a few moments before his eyes drop back to the menu. ] So? What do you want?

[ He turns the menu, pointing to a picture of a pretty pink parfait with disgustingly cute hearts and chocolate pieces. It's not really to Yuri's taste but it seems to be Marshmallow's for sure. ] That's the special.

[ Yuri's in good company, Marshmallow's never been on a date before and his friend probably set him up... but he didn't expect Yuri to be that good looking and it doesn't help calm poor Marshmallow's nerves.

He tried to make himself look as nice as possible, wearing his new dress, a faux fur stole and a pastel blue bow in his pink hair but compared to the younger boy he just looks a bit silly and chubby and like he needs to buy a nose job instead of some cake. Hopefully Yuri won't mind that Marshmallow's not especially pretty.

But it's hard to keep worrying once he sees that yummy looking and very pink parfait. Pink! Hearts! A cookie! Sprinkles...! ] Wow, really? But- but that looks so fancy... [ He'd feel bad, making Yuri get him something that special looking but at the same time he really wants it. ]

[ More than anything, Yuri was surprised that his date showed up in a dress. But the more he gets to know Marshmallow, the more it seems to make sense. And sure, Marshmallow could use a few jogging excursions but they are here to get sweets dammit, so they were going to get sweets!

He looks at the picture of the parfait again, not really seeing the big deal. Yeah it looks tasty, but that's about it. Now if it was like a special leopard parfait or something like that, he'd be into it. You're supposed to make your dates happy though, he supposes, and so he shrugs. ]

Isn't that the point? [ He's blunt but he's trying to be nice. ] If you want it then just get it. It's fine.

[ It's not just a dress, it's this... very poofy pink dress and there's some pink boots too and little light blue gloves. Marshmallow really tried to look fancy for his first ever date!

He smiles brightly, unable not to when Yuri generously offers to get him the yummy parfait. It may not seem very special to Yuri, there's no leopard anything, but this is clearly Marshmallow's perfect sweet and he's not that used to getting anything nice either so it's extra special. ]

Really? !!

I'll- I'll pay for yours then! [ Maybe the dumbest thing Marshmallow ever said and that's saying a lot. He only has a pound and a few pennies in the little matching pink purse he brought along with him. ]

[ Sadly, Yuri didn't try as much. He's just wearing his usual jeans and a tiger t-shirt with his leopard print jacket over top of it. He's cool and stylish of course but he's not fancy!

He may not have the leopard parfait of his dreams, but he feels a smug sort of satisfaction that Marshmallow is pleased with his parfait. He even smirks a bit as he nods his head. ]

Really.

[ Then he shrugs, leaning back in his chair. He puts his hands in the pockets of his jacket as if it's no big deal. It'd be nice if someone bought him something, but he isn't expecting it honestly. Besides, it makes him feel important and in charge to pay the bill himself, so he's fine if he ends up taking the whole thing. ]

It's fine. I can pay for us both. I don't know what I want though.

[ Marshmallow really likes Yuri's outfit, he probably loves large kitties the same way he loves pink! Sadly there's no dessert like that but there's lots of other good things, if it'd be up to Marshmallow he'd eat everything, but Yuri's a little bit picker about his sweets. ]

W-wow... thank you! Maybe you should get this, this looks yummy. [ He points at a piece of strawberry cake and then, finds a cookie milkshake that looks really nice too. It's easier to look at pictures of sweets than make eye contact with Yuri... those eyes make his tummy do flips and make him want to cover his face or hide on the toilet! ]

[ Yuri looks over the sweets, scrunching his nose up at the strawberry cake, but the cookie milkshake doesn't look so bad. He pauses to look at that one a little longer. Hmmmmm.... ]

Yeah. I'm gonna get this one. [ A nod. Then he waves the waiter over to point out their selections.

Once that's done, it's just the two of them again. Marshmallow is going to have to look at him sometime! ] So, do you like ice skating?

You- you should! I love cookies. [ Marshmallow agrees happily before blinking at Yuri's question and finally looking at him again. Does- does he like ice skating? The one time he tried, when he was little, he fell on his bum and cried until his mummy picked him up... is that liking it?

He gasps. Is it important that he likes it? Is he going to leave if he says no? Does Yuri really like ice skating? Marshmallow only likes dressing up and eating sweets, he doesn't understand what's fun about exercise at all! ]

Oh... yes... I'm really good! [ Anyone looking at Marshmallow can tell he's going to be bad at ice skating but he just wants to make his new friend, his date, like him somehow. And he's not very smart sometimes. ]

Yeah, I can tell. [ He doesn't mean it in a mean way exactly, though it might accidentally come out that way. This child has no social graces to speak of.

He makes a face at Marshmallow, looking him over. Somehow, he doesn't believe him. He doesn't have the figure for ice skating, that's for sure. Maybe he's on some downtime from it, but he has his doubts. But rather than decide to call him on it, Yuri just smirks instead, leaning back in his chair. ]

Really? That's great. Then maybe we can go together next time.

You can? [ That little smile betrays that... all of that just went completely over Marshmallow's head, like most things. It's true, he's not- you can't ice skate with a tummy like that. Marshmallow, as shy as he is, would have a hard time wearing something that tight as well. All his wears are these floaty puffy-sleeved dresses. ]

Oh... I'd like that! And- and then I'll pay for the sweets, okay? [ Doing something together sounds really special! Even if it's ice skating and he'll probably break his leg. His... very short little leg. You know, prime ice skater material. ]

Well yeah, it's kind of obvious. [ The way Marshmallow gets all happy at sweets. It's almost as obvious as the fact that he's definitely not a skater. But Yuri doesn't say that. He's supposed to be good now, this is a date. ]

Yeah, and then you can show me how good you are.

[ He nods, agreeing to let Marshmallow pay for the sweets. Speaking of, it's not long until their parfait and milkshake are set before them! ]

I think you like tigers that much, right? [ Marshmallow thinks all the tiger print really suits Yuri a lot with his blonde hair, maybe he could get something in pink tiger print and- and wear that when they go ice skating... he's nervous about that though but if he wears something pretty, maybe Yuri won't care if he falls? ]

Are- are you good at ice skating too? [ It's obvious he has no idea who Yuri is. Marshmallow's very out of the loop with most things. ...not things related to sweets though.

That parfait is even yummier than in the picture! ] !! It's so pretty! [ He has a hard time not nibbling on it right away. Be polite, Marshmallow! ]

Yeah! Tigers are awesome! [ He gets notably more excited talking about that. Chances are he would forgive the fact that Marshmallow wasn't too good at skating if he wore something with cool tiger print on it.

He takes his shake and stirs it around a little, gesturing that Marshmallow is free to dig in, there's nothing to wait for. Except he stops suddenly and stares at the other in disbelief. ]

Seriously? [ His eyebrows raise. How does Marshmallow not know who he is? That almost hurts his feelings! ] I'm a professional ice skater!

[ Marshmallow is about to happily nibble on his pink parfait that looks so very yummy when- oh... what did he do wrong now?

A professional ice skater? Should Marshmallow know him because he's famous? Is Yuri someone everyone else would instantly recognize? Did he just make a really dumb mistake and- oh, he looks very angry all of a sudden! ]

I-I'm really sorry! I...I don't know any famous people or- or anything and- and I don't ice skate, not ever, and- and I just wanted to impress you because you're so pretty... [ He starts to tear up, which- Marshmallow told himself he wouldn't cry during his first ever date but it's too late for that now.

Yuri's not going to be happy to be seen in public with Marshmallow but he can't help it, when he's upset he starts crying. ]

[ Well, he's not a huge celebrity, but if you followed ice skating, you should definitely know who Yuri Plisetsky was. He's a little affronted, sure, but he doesn't expect Marshmallow to start crying. Or to start confessing everything like that he doesn't know how to ice skate. Yuri already knew that, but still! He never asked for this. ]

Ah, shit. Don't cry! Stop crying! [ He waves his hand and then reaches for a napkin, holding it across the table for Marshmallow to take. ] You really didn't know anything about me before you agreed to this?

[ Nevermind he was the exact same with regards to Marshmallow. For all he knows, Marshmallow is a famous designer of poofy-sleeved dresses. ] Ahh, jeez. It's fine already!

[ Marshmallow smiles his very nervous little smile gratefully dabs his eyes with the napkin... he's so ashamed of himself for crying but at least Yuri doesn't seem incredibly angry with him for lying like that and not even knowing him and- and crying during a first date. ]

Thank- thank you. I... I thought it'd be good because I've never been on a date before. [ Despite Marshmallow being an adult, the way he dresses and looks means he only ever attracts exactly what you'd expect: creepy old perverts who want to play weird 'games'. He fidgets with the napkin. ]

I promise I'll stop- stop lying... I'm not good at lying. You're really patient, Yuri! [ At least, patient with Marshmallow, who isn't a famous designer of poofy dresses though he does make them himself! Yuri has a good eye for things. That's why they all look the same, he uses the same pattern over and over with different fabrics. ]

[ Mostly Yuri wants to stop the crying. Even if the lying was a bit annoying, and so was not even knowing who Yuri is (at least Marshmallow isn't one of his crazed fans though, that wouldn't be fun either), but the crying is the worst part. It makes him feel weird and uncomfortable and maybe a little bit guilty!

He sighs in relief when Marshmallow stops. ] Well that's stupid. [ Bluntly put, as he focuses some attention back on his shake. He takes a drink of it. Mmm delicious. ] You should just be yourself, isn't that easier?

[ He thought it was. But he didn't change himself for anybody. Everyone got the same bratty teenager that was Yuri. ]

[ ooc: sorry, IRL happened! If you want to continue tell me, okay? ]

[ ooc: I don't mind continuing. Either way! c: ]

[ Marshmallow stopped... usually he can cry for a lot longer than that but figuring out that Yuri's not very angry with him made it easier to stop sniffling. He follows Yuri's example and has a few yummy bites of his dessert before nodding a determined little nod. ]

Yes... I'll try to- to just be myself. [ It's not very easy for Marshmallow sometimes since 'himself' is a funny looking little guy in a dress who cries much too easily but Yuri didn't run away yet so- so maybe it's okay? ]

I'm just Marshmallow. I like sweets and cuddling and- and pretty dresses. I'm trying to find a job but it's not easy... [ That's probably not very shocking to anyone who looks at him. ]

And I'm happy you're still here! [ A little smile returns. ]

[ Yuri is so glad Marshmallow's sniffling and crying stopped. He felt a little awkward and wasn't sure what to do. But now they could just go on chatting and nibbling on their desserts! That sounds like a great idea to him. ]

That's fine, if it's who you are. [ He shrugs. He's not really good at this whole peptalk thing or anything, but he does think that everyone should be allowed to be themselves. ]

I wouldn't know about that. But I'm sure you'll find one soon. [ a nod. maybe someone would hire Marshmallow to model their dresses. Or make their dresses. Who knows! Yuri sure doesn't. ]

Of course I'm still here. I've got this shake to finish!
