[ victor means what he says – he wishes yuri would never retire. the uncertainty of their future together is looming like a monstrous shadow over the grand prix finals, and it worries him more than whether or not yuri will take home the gold. a twinge of guilt settles in the pit of his stomach when he thinks about it, like maybe he's being selfish since his priority as coach should be yuri's success, but he can't help himself.

he lets the embrace linger for as long as he can before makkachin starts pawing at his coat, reminding him that they're not the only two people in the airport. after a moment he finally steps back but takes yuri's hand as he does, looping their fingers together, and smiles. ]

Have you eaten? I thought we could go somewhere. You can tell me about everything I missed.

[ Yuri cries in public so often that he shouldn't be embarrassed about it any more. Nonetheless, he still ducks his head when Viktor pulls away, doing his best to surreptitiously wipe away the moisture in his eyes.

It's then that he sees Makkachin, really sees him, for the first time, and it makes him want to burst into tears all over again. Grinning, he kneels down to wrap one arm around the fuzzy pup, burying his face in the dog's fur just like he'd pressed his face to Viktor's shoulder moments ago. ]

Makkachin, you really scared me! [ The relief in his voice is tangible. His family had texted him when Makkachin was released from the vet, but that wasn't the same as seeing him here, tail wagging and tongue sticking out as though nothing had happened.

Viktor's words make Yuri look up again, and the curl of those long, slim fingers against his own makes his flush return. There's so much happiness in his heart right now, he feels like he could burst. Instead he just shakes his head a little, gets to his feet, and gives Viktor's hand a squeeze. ]

I felt too anxious to be hungry before, but... [ His stomach gives a loud, telltale growl, and his blush deepens. ]

I wanted to treat you to a big Russian dinner after you skated but Makkachin but a stop to that...and the closest Russian restaurants I could find here are all the way in Tokyo. [ he doesn't sound too put out about it though and he gives makkachin's floofy head a loving pat with his free hand. ] So I thought maybe you could pick a place since you know Fukuoka better than I do.

[ how are they going to do anything with a dog, you say? ]

Oh! Minako came too. She stepped outside to make a call, but she said she would bring Makkachin back home for me so we could go eat without worrying.

[ Yuri flushes a little at the thought of their lost 'date', but he doesn't let himself feel too bad about it. What's important is that they're together now, and that Makkachin is okay. They can go back and visit Russia another time.

A part of him wants to just go home and get lost in Makkachin's fluffy warmth, but a bigger part of him wants to stay as close to Viktor as possible. Being apart had been more difficult than he'd expected, and now he isn't quite as self-conscious about his clinginess as he used to be. ]

Maybe we could go to Touhenboku? [ the name ventures from his lips shyly, and he ducks his head. He's not quite used to this yet, as happy as it makes him feel. ] They make really good ramen. The best in Kyushu, probably.

[ as much as victor had been looking forward to sharing the food of his people with yuri, the idea of trying another delicious authentic japanese meal is even more exciting. he lets go of yuri's hand so he can clap his together and say (perhaps a bit too loudly) (also obliviously startling some innocent bystanders in the process): ]

[ how he hadn't tried ramen yet during his 7 month foodie vacation is a mystery, but he supposed it had always just sounded a little uninspiring next to things like katsudon and yakitori and sashimi. now, though, nothing sounds better than sitting down to a bowl of ramen and listening to yuri tell him everything he missed by leaving. ]

Here, let's go pick up your luggage and find Minako.

[ he takes yuri's hand again and starts to lead him towards baggage claim, makkachin trotting happily behind them. ]

[ It's taken a while, but Yuri is much more used to Viktor's happy little outbursts now than he used to be. The way the older man so genuinely shows his emotions is touching, and it makes Yuri want to give him a million more things to be excited about.

He ducks his head, smiling shyly, and gives Viktor's hand another squeeze. He doesn't mind if people stare; he's with the person he cares most about in the whole world. Following Viktor's lead, he feels his smile widen into a grin. ]

It'll be nice to eat something warm. It's really cold today, isn't it? [ The breeze that floats in through the airport's many exits and entrances is enough to tell Yuri that there's snow on the ground. ] Did you wear a hat? You'll get sick if you let your ears get cold...
