Sorry I took forever with these two, but I'm glad to get the ball rolling with them again.
Marriage was a strange concept for Davy; he'd never been married as a human, and faerie marriages were nothing like human marriages. A faerie marriage, in most cases, was something more of a treaty and the children brought forth from them were the seals of those treaties. This was the first time Davy had actually gotten married because he had started to care for his partner.
It was early in the morning in his domain; the sky was just starting to brighten and its beams were creeping into Jake's bedroom. Davy was padding in quietly with a wrapped bundle in his arms. It was the youngest of the children Jake had fathered with Davy's guidance and assistance, a little boy sleeping soundly after having been nursed by his mother. Davy settled down on the opposite side of the bed next to Jake and set their - no, his, Jake's - son down between them. He turned onto his side and watched the two of them sleep.
No worries! Been super busy as well.
Today was a normal dream. A good dream, at that. He'd been having them more with Davy sleeping next to him as often as he could. Since the two had married, Jake's life had improved as well as it could while still wanting to be near his children. Davy hadn't changed, really, but Jake became more willing to listen to him with an open mind now that he saw the man truly was trying to make things as easy as he could for a human in Faerie. He enjoyed their verbal sparring sessions, or that Davy took Jake seriously. He liked that it wasn't just him with the children, and if he had to admit it, he liked that Davy easily wanted to be a father to his- their children despite them being made originally as tools for a larger purpose. If Jake really had to admit it, he would say that he'd fallen in love with Davy ages ago. He was dreaming this morning of his fortunes wrapped in what looked at first to be misery.
He came to slowly, stretching out slowly as he let his eyes come unglued from sleep. With a small gust of air, he focused and saw a child in front of him sleeping as soundly as Jake just had been. Wearily, he smiled and brushed a hand along the side of the boy's face. "Hey there," he mumbled sleepily, moving so that he was only an inch or so away from the child. "How did you get out of the nursery?"
no subject
"He wanted to sleep with his daddy." Davy spoke softly; one might think that it wasn't something he was used to, with the power he'd been throwing around his realm of Faerie ever since Jake had first arrived, but he had always preferred the way of gentleness. It still hurt him that he had to bring Jake here and force him into this situation the way that he did, but it seemed like they were making the most of it. The look he saw on Jake's face when he saw his- their son gave him some measure of hope that things were okay. Davy smiled across the child to Jake.
"Did you sleep well?" He wanted to reach out and brush his hand against Jake's face, but he still felt he should have some sign that his presence was okay before doing so. He might have been a devil, but even devils had their rules; they were just their own rules and no one else's.
