It's nice, not to have to get up and do anything. It's nice, to actually feel like they're taking the time. It's nice, to be smelling the salty sea breeze and still be able to touch one another; to kiss and do more because no one's going to fault them for it.

It's nice, to linger in close to Horatio in bed in the morning. It's just as nice, to briefly retreat from the warmth of the covers to make coffee to bring to his husband.

He's humming happily as he moves through the galley, hunting down the sugar and cream to mix into his own mug as the coffee's being made.

He had loved waking up early. He had enjoyed bring on deck before the dawn, watching the ship spring more fully into life when the night crew melted into the more robust day crew.

He loves this much, much more.

It's a compliment to his utter contentment that he sleeps in past daybreak. It's a compliment to Archie that he lingers in obviously pleased exhaustion even when his husband gets out of bed.

Eventually, he does drag himself back into a state of at least half-dress. There's something wonderfully delicious about being able to wander up to press a kiss against his husband's neck, arms wrapping contentedly around Archie's waist.

"Morning, love."

There's a pleased purr that escapes his lips as soon as he feels Horatio's lips press against his. The quest for sugar and cream is abandoned briefly as he lets his hands rest against Horatio's and settles contentedly into his husband's hold.

"Good morning."

It's unlikely he's ever sounded quite this happy.

They had been happy. He knows they had been happy. Still, there's something so much brighter in Archie's entire being since the wedding.

It's overwhelming. It's the most beautiful thing in the world.

And it's amazingly lucky that he can bury his face contentedly in against Archie's neck, arms squeezing tighter for a moment. "Come back t' bed, hm?"

"'ll right."

It's more than easy enough to agree.

"Want coffee first, or later?"

Either is clearly acceptable.

"Will it be long?"

Never let it be said that Horatio Hornblower wanted to defer his first cup of coffee in the morning for anything less than a life-threatening emergency.

The idea of getting back in bed with his husband, however, is quite nearly as compelling. There's the tiniest bit of wavering in the balls of his feet as he nuzzles closer.

Coffee and a cuddle would be best.

"Just another minute or two, I think."

More than enough time for a bit of a cuddle here, too, clearly.

"Not so bad, then."

Particularly not if it means he can cling here, comfortable and warm against his new husband's spine.

"Be all right waiting on breakfast?"

Curling up again just sounds so incredibly delicious.

"I don't foresee any problems," he replies contentedly, settling happily.

"Though if I end up getting hungry I may need a-- distraction," he teases.

Honestly, though, he'll be more than happy just cuddling in close again.

They've been together since college. They'd been engaged for quite some time. They've been married for most of a week.

His cheeks still flush faintly at the suggestion. His face pushes more firmly in against Archie's neck.

"I'd like that."

After some coffee, obviously.

He can't help but laugh a little, to feel the blush. He squeezes just slightly at Horatio's hands, entirely affectionate.

"Me, too." Obviously. "Once the coffee's done, then."

It really shouldn't be long, now.

"You truly are beyond fantastic."

For more than he can say, groggy and contented as he is. There's simply so many little bits and pieces that Archie understands, sees, knows, feels; explains back to him, gently and directly. Even this soft laugh and promise of coffee feels like a gift of being truly understood by the man who holds his heart.

"Cheers for that."

"Well, 've got to be on your level," he teases softly; shifting his head carefully to grin more properly at his husband.

"Coffee seems like a good place t'start."

His laugh is soft and a little sleepy. His lips are sloppy as they press against his husband's jaw, arms squeezing tigher.

"It always is."

Particularly coffee together. Particularly coffee made when they had woken up in the same bed and could return to lounge there again.

He can't help the entirely pleased hum as he squirms just slightly in Horatio's hold.

"I wanna kiss you. Let up a bit?"

Because he absolutely doesn't want to break free entirely of the other man's hold.

"Really?"

It's not actually surprising. It's also not something he even hesitates about, arms slacking without fully letting go.

"'ve not even brushed my teeth."

It had never stopped them before, true.

"You kissed me just the other day right after I'd thrown up," he reminds him warmly as he shifts to face him.

It really has never stopped them. It's certainly not stopping him from leaning in now.

His laugh is entirely drowsy and perfectly contented. His lips are just a little sluggish at catching his husband's, arms squeezing tight again.

Nothing's really stopped them for ages now. That's wonderful to note.

He loves him all the time, yes. It's just that in moments like these, he's not entirely certain whether or not he loves him most when he's like this.

"God, 'ratio..." He has to lean in to steal another tender kiss, one hand lifting to brush fondly at his husband's cheek and stay there, fingertips resting slightly against his curls.

There's a teasing smile on his lips as he leans his forehead against Horatio's.

"Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?" he murmurs, eyes studying the other man's face adoringly, "Thou art more lovely and more temperate."
