mattheusz makes for a comfortable pillow, and the alien is quite content to rest against his boyfriend as he reads, the accented voice lulling him into a contentedness he didn't think he would be able to find after the genocide of his planet. there's something about mattheusz that helps him forget for a little while, despite the constant attacks by the shadow kin and whatever other alien that decided to venture through a rip that day. he makes charlie feel happy.
for a long time, he had thought he had lost the ability to feel that. despite the fear of making the wrong choice, taking the wrong steps, asking the wrong things - well, he wasn't going to complain about having the pole here any time soon.
